Research areas: atomic, nuclear and particle
theoretical physics. Richard Weiner’s work includes the prediction and theory
of the isomeric shift on spectral atomic lines and of hot spots
in nucleons and nuclei. His work with A.Mann constitutes the first evidence
for and theory of superfluidity of hadronic matter. Fowler and
Weiner introduced the concept of coherence
in intensity (Bose-Einstein) interferometry and Andreev and Plümer and Weiner
predicted particle-antiparticle correlations in Bose-Einstein correlations.
His work with Friedlander brought the first evidence for quark-gluon plasma in particle reactions. Plümer, Raha and Weiner predicted in 1984
the strongly interacting character of quark-gluon plasma found in 2005 at the
Brookhaven RHIC accelerator.
